Questions & Answers

Here you will find short, straightforward answers to the questions we are most often asked. The information is written with neurodivergent adults in mind – clear, concrete and without overwhelm.

1. Who is Mindful Motion Academy for?

We work mainly with neurodivergent adults (for example ADHD, autism, AuDHD) and people who suspect they might be neurodivergent. We also support people who want to better understand their emotions, reactions and everyday patterns.

2. Do I need a formal diagnosis to book a session?

No. You can come with a diagnosis, with a suspicion, or simply with questions. We can explore together what might be going on and what kind of support could be helpful.

3. How long does an individual session last?

Individual sessions last 50 minutes.

4. What does the ADHD assessment package include?

The ADHD assessment for adults consists of 5 online sessions of 50 minutes each. The process includes questionnaires you complete at home, a detailed life history interview, a structured diagnostic session and a final session where we discuss the results and plan next steps.

5. What kind of document do I receive after the assessment?

You receive a psychology-informed description of your functioning, based on current research and clinical knowledge about ADHD in adults. You can share this document with your GP, employer, occupational health, psychiatry (NHS or private) and other professionals involved in your care.

This document is not an official NHS clinical diagnosis. It is a professional, detailed report that can support further diagnostic or therapeutic decisions.

6. How do I book my very first appointment?

Go to the Services & pricing section on the main page, choose the service that fits you best and click the relevant booking button. You will be redirected to our online calendar, where you can choose a date, fill in a short form and arrange payment in advance.

7. How do I book follow-up sessions?

Follow-up sessions are arranged directly with your practitioner – usually at the end of a session or by email / WhatsApp. You do not need to go through the booking calendar again for every single appointment.

8. How do payments and cancellations work?

All appointments are paid in advance. If you cancel with reasonable notice (for example at least 24 hours before the session), we can reschedule. If you do not cancel in time and do not attend, the fee is non-refundable.

9. Can I pay in a currency other than GBP?

Yes, in many cases this is possible. Please contact us by email to discuss the most practical and safe option for you.

10. Which platforms do you use for online sessions?

We usually work via Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom or WhatsApp video. You can tell us which platform feels most comfortable for you in the booking form or by email.

11. Do I have to use my camera?

Yes. For both therapy and especially for assessment, camera use is required. We rely not only on what you say, but also on non-verbal communication, facial expression and how you respond over time.

If using a camera is very difficult for you, face-to-face appointments in Merseyside may be possible. Please contact us by email or WhatsApp to talk this through.

12. How can I prepare for an online session?

Try to find a reasonably quiet, private space with a stable internet connection. If you can, check your camera and microphone beforehand. Having water, a hot drink, a blanket, fidgets or something to write on is absolutely welcome.

13. Is what I say in sessions confidential?

Yes, within the limits of professional ethics and the law. We work in line with UK data protection regulations (UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018). There are some situations where we may need to break confidentiality – for example if there is a serious and immediate risk to your life or someone else’s, or concerns about the safety of a child. We always explain this clearly in our work together.

14. What should I do if I am in crisis or feel unsafe?

Mindful Motion Academy is not an emergency or crisis service and we cannot offer 24/7 support.

If you live in the UK:

  • Call 111 and choose option 2 to reach the 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Team.
  • If there is an immediate danger to life, call 999.
